There are many sources of information about learning disabilities on the web. The links below are to some highly credible sites, many of which contain links to local resources.
- Learning Disabilities Association of Canada. This site is a treasure trove of information on learning disabilities and advocacy. There are links to Provincial Organizations across Canada, and to separate LDAC sites about transitioning to post-secondary education and the workforce and the need for educational accommodations. The LDAC site contains premier resources on research about potential environmental causes of learning disabilities.
- White Paper from the World Summit on Learning Disabilities. Written by LD Experience’s Kathryn Burke, the White Paper summarizes the outcome of the first ever World Summit on Learning Disabilities organized by Foothills Academy Society and held in Lake Louise in April 2008. The White Paper is designed as a document to be used by policy makers and those who inform policy.
- LD Online: This site is one of the pre-eminant sources of information on learning disabilities. Consider subscribing to their online news feed.
- Misunderstood Minds: A must for teachers and parents to “get into the shoes” and experience life as someone with learning disabilities.
- Learning Disabilities Association of America: The webpage of America’s national organization on learning disabilities.
- National Centre for Learning Disabilities: A wonderful clearing house and authoritative source on learning disabilities.
- Learning Difficulties Australia: The webpage of Australia’s national organization on learning disabilities.
- British Dyslexia Association: Learning disabilities are generally referred to as dyslexia in the UK. This webpage is the equivalent of Britain’s national organization on learning disabilities.
